This site aims to allow you access to the best articles from across the web, as judged by other members. Many of the stories are gathered automatically from the extensive list of trusted sources, but users can also submit articles that they find interesting or useful.

The home page shows the 'Popular' results from all article categories. These are the recent articles that other users have voted for. They are not only ranked according to how many votes they have received, but also how new they are. Only articles from the last three days will appear on the Popular section.

This is the page that lists all of the articles as they appear on the site chronologically. It is updated every few minutes.

If you want to read an article in full, you can just click on the main title. If you want to open it up in a new window or tab, just click on the small icon(
) to the side of the title.

To vote on an article, just click on the 'vote' link underneath the vote count box on the left hand side of a listing. Voting for an article just means that you found it interesting, useful or funny. The site depends upon people voting for articles that they like to ensure that only the best make it into the popular listings. You can only vote for a story once.
There are two main ways to search. Firstly you can use the search box. This will provide listings on a 'best match' basis, regardless of how old the listings are. Alternatively, you can use the tags system, detailed below, which will list results chronologically (most recent first).

Tags are keywords associated with a news item. The site automatically adds relevant tags when a new article is included from our trusted sources. By clicking on a tag, you will receive a list of all news items associated with that tag, listed in chronological order, with the newest first. This is a great way to follow all of the news on a particular topic, as it arrives. Tags can be found underneath each listing, or in the side bar in the Hot Topics list.

As well as the Popular and Upcoming sections, the listings are further categorised, and these are listed in the main navigation bar. If you only want one kind of article, you can click on a category. The Popular and Upcoming sections work within the Categories too, so you can just see the popular or upcoming links from a particular category.

Some categories also contain subcategories, which will appear in a bar under the main categories bar. These work in exactly the same way as the main categories.

Every member of the site has a profile page. This page provides access to certain information about the user, such as which articles they have voted for, submitted and commented on. It also has a link so that you can send them a private mail. If the user has chosen to edit their profile, it may also contain a picture of them or an avatar, and other personal information. Some profiles are created automatically to enable the automatic feeds to work. These 'users' are not real people!
You can access a profile by clicking on the user's name in an article listing.

The following features are only available to site members. Membership is completely free; all you need to do is register and then log in.

The site provides a community commenting system that allows you to share your thoughts with other members directly underneath an article listing. Just click on the comments link. This will take you to the individual article page. Underneath the article summary (and any existing comments), you will see a comments box to type your thoughts into.

The 'bury' link is used to show if a junk listing has been included. Please use this facility to inform the site admins of spam. Please do NOT use this to simply show your disapproval of an article - it is intended to identify spam and worthless entries.

The favourites system allows you to pick a few of your favourite sites and just see the latest postings from them. This is a very quick and easy way to follow several news sources at once, without having to visit each in turn. You can add or remove a source by clicking on the appropriate link underneath a listing. Once you have added a favourite, all listings from that source will automatically appear in your Favourites tab.
Sources included in your favourites are indicated by a golden star (
)

You can also save individual articles that you find interesting and would like to refer to later by clicking on the 'Add to saves' link. You can see all of your saved links by clicking on the 'Saved' button.

You can edit the contents of your profile page and change your 'avatar' (picture) in this area.

The site uses a fairly rudimentary Private Mail ('PM') system that allows you to directly send a message to another user. You can send a messge to a user by clicking on the 'Send Private Message' link in their profile page, or simply clicking on 'reply' if they have already sent you a message. You can see how many unread messages you have by looking at the 'PMs' button. Clicking this will take you to your Inbox.

The 'My Chat' button is a short cut that lists all of the articles that you have commented on.

If you find an article that isn't already in the system, you can submit it quickly and easily by clicking on the 'Submit a News Item' button. The first time that you do this, it will be placed in a moderation queue for approval. This is to prevent spammers from flooding the site with irrelevant links. Once you have had one article submission approved, you will be able to submit others without any delay.
