A widget allow your website users to vote for your article on Politigg without even visiting. It puts the voting button on to your article pages!
Adding a widget to your blog articles is easy. Just follow these simple steps:
Submit the article to Politigg.
If you haven't already submitted the article, do so now. If your site is automatically included via one of the site's feeds (find out here), then it will appear within about 15-20 minutes of you posting it. Alternatively, if you wish, you can submit it yourself, but it will end up in the moderation queue.
Insert the Code
You can insert the code anywhere on the article. The best places will be the top left and top right. To add the code, you will need to be in the Edit HTML mode of your blog.
Code for RIGHT Hand Side:<div style="float: right; margin-left: 10px; margin-top: 5px; display: inline; width: 52px;"><iframe src="http://www.politigg.co.uk/ex.php?url=XXX" scrolling="no" width="52" frameborder="0" height="83"></iframe></div>
Code for LEFT Hand Side:<div style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-top: 5px; display: inline; width: 52px;"><iframe src="http://www.politigg.co.uk/ex.php?url=XXX" scrolling="no" width="52" frameborder="0" height="83"></iframe></div>
Put in the article URL
Swap the XXX in the HTML for the article URL. Please make sure that you use the permalink URL if this is for a blog article.
Save and publish!
Your blog software should allow you to change the posting template. This will allow you to add the widget HTML to every post automatically. All you will need to do then is swap in the article URL.
This HTML places an iframe on your site, so it won't affect your site in any way, and because it is such a small bit of HTML, it won't impact on your search engine placement. Also because it uses an iframe, and there are no sneaky links to Politigg, it won't bleed your Page Rank.
