The new European fiscal treaty on budgetary discipline will be signed by 25 EU member states, after the Czech Republic decided to stay out citing “constitutional reasons”. However, speaking to the press after the summit, Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas hinted that his country could possibly join at a later stage.

EU leaders agreed yesterday (30 January) a treaty on tighter fiscal rules to preserve the eurozone from new crises. But the Czech Republic said it would not sign it for now due to ratification difficulties, while French President Nicolas Sarkozy said his country is unlikely to ratify before the 6 May presidential election.  More »

For Czech readers So, which is the university in the Czech Republic which does metals and mining then? In the UK I’d start with Cambourne School of Mines, maybe the (Royal?) School of Mines at Imperial. In Germany, at Freiberg. But where do I start in the Czech Republic? Particularly, I want to find out about the history
