A new book about the founder of the dynasty challenges the widely-held assumption that he made his fortune as a bootlegger. The real money, it says, came from wheeling and dealing in Hollywood. There's no attempt at revisionism, however, when it comes to assessing the character of the "near-complete bastard".

BBC One Show indulges in a spot of revisionism Good old BBC, you can always rely on them for a bit of revisionism.  According to one of the BBC’s tame gardeners, the 1600s was the best time to be British. At first I was a little confused on account of there not being a British nation until 1707, then I thought perhaps she was being

I see that Irish President Mary McAleese has been indluging her hobby of historical revisionism again, this time claiming that tens of thousands of Irishmen joined the British Army in an attempt to avoid poverty rather than out of a sense of partiotism. I'm with Lord Maginnis on this when he wrily observes.... "The whole idea that men joined the Army to keep their families off the bread line ...

ANTI-SEMITIC HISTORICAL REVISIONISM IN THE INDIE A disgraceful piece of anti-Semitic historical revisionism appears in today’s Independent newspaper, which tries to rehabilitate the Slovenian Nazis, or Domobrantsvo/ (Slowenische Landeswehr) as misunderstood patriots, betrayed by the British. The Domobrantsvo are shown here in the picture swearing an oath of allegiance on Hitler’s birthday in 1945. Jugoslavia had emerged as a multi-et...

"In the bubbled, hypocritical mind of some in Hollywood, the only reason Gervais crossed a line is because he went after them. Had he been as relentless in ripping apart Sarah Palin, her young children, Jesus Christ, or George W. Bush, today the comedian would be celebrated as “edgy” and “courageous” — because only in Hollywood is throwing red meat...

That is what Hollywood is exporting to the world, apparently, along with "extramarital sex leading to the spread of sexually-transmitted disease", but I decided that had to be excised from the headline for reasons of space. And furthermore, "The lack of morals and values in Hollywood culture has been destroying the fabric of American culture, particularly the family...Hollywood has also been accus...

Hollywood is completely obsessed with the Holocaust. Partly because of its own Jewishness, also the reason why, among other things, Hollywood so rarely depicts God. Partly because the Holocaust didn’t happen in America (unlike slavery, or the genocide of the Native Americans), or with direct American participation or collusion. And partly because, as with the saturation teaching of the Holocaust...

The other day I wrote a post  complaining about the informal shunning of Republicans in Hollywood.   Several ATW readers thought my analysis was incorrect.  Vehemently.  I can't be right!   There is no shunning because liberals are open-minded and tolerant.  Right??  Hollywood blacklisting ended when the McCarthy Era was put to bed. Right? Unfortunately...

Quote Of The Day.... Hollywood wasn’t AWOL in the War on Terror. In fact, just the opposite is true. Hollywood summoned every ounce of financial and star power at their disposal to fight this war. Unfortunately, they chose to fight for the other side. - John Nolte, 9/11/11, writing in Andrew Breibart's Big Hollywood addthis_url='>'; addthis_title='>'; addthis_pub='Joshuapundit'...
