Due to a recent spate of spam type comments I think it's time to post a repeat of this blogs comments policy. Comments are welcome and encouraged. Please make sure to keep comments relevant to the blog post (this applies to any links that may be included). Rude, wasteful, off-topic are discouraged but will not be deleted. If you want to make yourself look like an idiot your very much welcome ...

Wikio Rankings Changes for Top UK Political Blogs: Exclusive I have had an exclusive look at the new rankings for political blogs by Wikio which are coming out tomorrow, and there are some major changes. These rankings are based on links from blog articles on monitored blogs, and that blogroll links are ignored. There have been some changes to the algorithm to take links from blogs over the previous 9 months into account (rather than 4), and the value attac...

These are the preliminary Wikio overall rankings for UK blogs for October. The full set (which may change slightly) are due out soon after the end of the month. I have no idea how soon that will be. These rankings are based on links from blog articles on monitored blogs, and that blogroll links are ignored. There have been some changes to the algorithm to take links from blogs over the previous 9 ...

[good navigation] the key to readers returning Every one of us gets about other blogs - my primary method is to go first to my comments, read through and then click on the links there. This produces some surprising results. In the case of ScotsToryB, it produces a page which presumably is there to provide him with a link and to register who came. That's fine, as at least it does go somewhere. Sometimes when you click on such links, it giv...

I've just read the most incredible thread on LabourList about comments at Guido's website in his latest caption competition. I will add links later as I'm writing this post on a phone and then emailing it, but if you have a chance its worth looking at. Basically there are demands for Iain Dale and ConservativeHome to remove their links to Guido as some of the comments made in the caption competiti...

I know quite a few of you (yes, Jon Craig, I mean you!) use this site as a portal to get to other blogs, so I thought I'd tell you that I've added a few sidebar links tonight to blogs that I now read most days... Out of a conversation today I started wondering just what the relative influence was of various Anglican Blogs. A good place to start thinking about this is Technorati, which ranks blogs on the basis of how many links from unique sites they have acquired in the past six months. That’s a much better way of

I'm making a few changes to the blog and I'd appreciate feedback in the comments. I've added a "Video Box" to both the Magazine and the Blog Versions of the site. These are currently running sponsored videos, but mayalso include news and other videos. Later on this evening I will be revising the header section of the blog to remove the Google "links", and revise the links section be...

There has been a recent trend amongst Welsh bloggers to move towards moderating comments. Some of my favourite blogs, including Ordovicius, Glyn Davies and Valleys Mam, moderate the comments on their blogs. Even Iain Dale has reverted to this approach because of a "number of anonymous people who have returned to troll and smear". Unfortunately, in the last few weeks, I have followed this trend. Ho...

I've managed to stay in the Top Ten Labour blogs according to Total Politics ( ) . Not bad as I didn't canvass for votes and posting has been light recently. Thank you to everyone who voted for me, congratulations to the winners: Full list of top 25, with last year's position in brackets (I couldn't cut and paste all the links so you need to go on the Total Politics web site to follow links to the...
