One quite appropriate response would be to ban those identified to be users of such thuggish approaches to debate from Comment is Free, because free comment is the last thing these people want. I didn't know Comment is Free over at the loathsome Guardian actually had an editor, but apparently it does, so that makes it worse. Anyway, they have now sacked a racist blogger, read about it here - though they have also invited her to write for them, bizarrely, and they of course are the only paper to give a clear platform to racists.
