Harriet Harman gets it so so wrong at PMQs
I was thoroughly amused whilst watching Prime Minister’s Questions today to see Harriet Harman make a dig at Alex Salmond for being both an MP and an MSP.Hasn’t Harriet Harman met Margaret Curran MSP who is standing for Labour in the Glasgow East by-election?There is a long way to go before Harman becomes Prime Minister I think….

Margaret Curran was a hugely popular and well respected figure in the Labour Party even before the Glasgow East by-election. Whatever analysis you hear of why Labour lost, no one lays fault at the foot of Margaretīs door. She has a unique insight into why Labour lost the trust of Glasgow East voters and perhaps more than anyone, understands the size of the challenge ahead of us all. Itīs therefore...

When it comes to elections in Scotland, there is a convincing argument that there is a lot in a name. See Alex Salmond for First Minister, or the Margaret/Frances Curran divide in the Glasgow East by-election.

Labour's candidate at the Glasgow East by-election, Margaret Curran, is facing a real struggle to retain the seat in the face of the SNP advance. Gordon Brown won't be lending her a hand - although I rather doubt his help would have been welcomed. The Prime Minister does not merit a single mention on Curran's campaign website, which also fails to feature the cheesy photograph of him posing with h...

Another reason for Labour edginess in Glasgow East Iain Martin blogged earlier about how edgy the Labour camp is feeling in Glasgow East in advance of tomorrow's by-election.Margaret Curran weighs up her chancesAnd a blog post by Ross Lydall of The Scotsman suggests that there perhaps ought to be further cause for such edginess after a debate on Radio Scotland this morning. As Ross explains, the Labour candidate, Margaret Curran, was forced to admi...

July 25th: Glasgow East By-Election: And Now The End Is Near... Two days ago, Margaret Curran, the Labour candidate in the Glasgow East by-election, promised she would "wipe the smile off Salmond's face". It's safe to say that particular mission has not been achieved as, last night, the SNP delivered one of the political by-election shocks of the century, of any century. Labour's third safest seat in Scotland and sixth safest seat at Westminster...

Now Labour's senior ministers are conceding defeat in the Glasgow East by-election to the SNP! “We are going to lose Glasgow East and we should be planning for the aftermath.” said one. No wonder Margaret Curran looked glum at her campaign launch today - as this picture from the Telegraph shows. The balloons do add to the

With less than a week of campaigning left, an opinion poll today indicates that Labour is pulling ahead of the SNP in the Glasgow East by-election. The poll for the Scottish Daily Mail gives Labour's Margaret Curran a 17 per cent lead over her nearest rivals the Scottish National Party. According to the poll, more than half the voters in Glasgow East are supporting Labour - 52 per cent - with the ...

In what can only be described as the mother of all gaffes in her gaffe-torn Glasgow East campaign, the Labour candidate has refused to consider moving to the constituency once elected. The Scotsman sums it up like this: “But the news story was surely the refusal of Margaret Curran, the Labour candidate, to promise to live in
