Margaret Curran was a hugely popular and well respected figure in the Labour Party even before the Glasgow East by-election. Whatever analysis you hear of why Labour lost, no one lays fault at the foot of Margaretīs door. She has a unique insight into why Labour lost the trust of Glasgow East voters and perhaps more than anyone, understands the size of the challenge ahead of us all. Itīs therefore...

When it comes to elections in Scotland, there is a convincing argument that there is a lot in a name. See Alex Salmond for First Minister, or the Margaret/Frances Curran divide in the Glasgow East by-election.

Labour's candidate at the Glasgow East by-election, Margaret Curran, is facing a real struggle to retain the seat in the face of the SNP advance. With less than a week of campaigning left, an opinion poll today indicates that Labour is pulling ahead of the SNP in the Glasgow East by-election. The poll for the Scottish Daily Mail gives Labour's Margaret Curran a 17 per cent lead over her nearest rivals the Scottish National Party. According to the poll, more than half the voters in Glasgow East are supporting Labour - 52 per cent - with the ...

In what can only be described as the mother of all gaffes in her gaffe-torn Glasgow East campaign, the Labour candidate has refused to consider moving to the constituency once elected. The Scotsman sums it up like this: “But the news story was surely the refusal of Margaret Curran, the Labour candidate, to promise to live in
