I'm making some changes to the blog site. This is mainly to do with broadening the content of the site, to move further towards "escaping from the politics niche", but also to focus more on the upcoming election.

Changes to the Wardman Wire Site Design There have been quite a lot changes in the site design of the Wardman Wire over the last few weeks, and today I've put up the last major change onto the magazine version of the site and introduced a new menu bar to make some of the services to find. If you would like to have a poke around, I would welcome any comments before I put the menu bar onto the blog version of the site. (Yes, I am awa...

I have been too busy rehosting the site to do much looking back on 2008, but I came across an excellent list of no less than 69 review questions to think about over at Darren Rouse's Problogger site. Darren lists his questions in 8 topic areas, and I've quoted question 5 from each list as a sample. I have given brief answers for one selected questions from each topic for the Wardman Wire...

As from today this site becomes not just www.johnredwood.com but also the regulated site of John Redwood, Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Wokingham. The main site will continue unchanged, whilst the materials for the Wokingham election will normally appear on the local issues pages. The whole site is being treated as an election expense and will

A Bridge Too Far: CAIR Versus Bare Naked Islam I note with interest a PR wire sent out by the The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) boasting that they had taken down an 'anti-Islam hate site'. The site in question is Bare Naked Islam. ( h/t memeorandum) CAIR's PR wire is entitled "CAIR Asks FBI to Probe Internet Threats to Mosques" and they cite their successful attempt to have Wordpress shut the site down. Predictabl...

Garbo is away today, so I've stolen the slot to write about how the site will be developing. This blog has gone through 3 stages, from personal blog to group blog to magazine style blog, which came in back in April. From the start we have been in a number of niches, and I want to build on that.

Things have been a bit quiet here from me for a few days. What happened to Matt was that the other site I am involved in at present - to do with making sure that the owners who are running down the former SPCK Chain of Bookshops (that readers to the Wardman Wire may well notice but ignore when you visit a Cathedral Town) are held to account - has been going haywire and is taking up several hours e...

Can you imagine adding fun, targeted video content to your site, while earning revenue at the same time? No, really. Picture the majesty, the drama, the undeniable spectacle of it all. Video. Your site. Total togetherness. It's a dreamlike state. Whoa, snap out of it! This video-makes-money-on-your-site thing is now a solid reality. Google AdSense announced today a new offering called video u...

OK, so I’m experimenting on a new site. I need to see where my traffic is coming from, so obviously I need a stats package. The one on the site is pretty pants and will be for the next few months. I cannot add Sitemeter or the like to the site as a whole (and the free
