I'm fed up of Labour careerists who wound but fear to strike. The likes of Blears who want to win votes by feeling the voters pain and being seen to be on their side ( which today means against Gordon Brown ), but to do so whilst still in the cabinet. Its the same trick when cabinet minister, um like Hazel Blears, campaigned against the health cuts their own constituencies that their collecti...

Hazel Blears is a national treasure in the making Charles Moore has hit the nail on the head in relation to Hazel Blears. In his Spectator notes he discusses plans by the government to fund a board of Islamic theologians to try to advance more moderate interpretations of Islam, and then defends the diminutive Secretary of State for Communities and Local government: Hazel Blears has her fans "By the way, Hazel Blears, the Cabinet minister in charg...

Hazel Blears Resigns From Cabinet Hazel Blears resigned from government this morning, just before PMQ's. Credit where credit's due, Mrs Blears left the cabinet in style and with conviction so often missing from Labours front bench. Yet it leaves this saga turning into Murder on the Orient Express, but to what end? A leadership challenge is being spoken of the most. I'm still doubtful about this idea, Labour are more of a dictators...

Of all the Labour MPs caught up in expenses revelations, for me, Hazel Blears was the most painful to stomach as a party activist. I'm therefore very pleased to see her give back the £13,000 she claimed to cover CGT. In my view, Hazel Blears is one of the most authentic and effective communicators in the Cabinet. I didn't vote for her in the Deputy Leadership contest - but I wish I...
