by Gregor Gall Workers in Britain on strike against the refusal of employers to employ local labour: a sense of déjà vu? The very same engineering construction workers who went on strike against the exclusive use of imported foreign workers earlier this year are now doing it again. Their beef is not that British workers are being

Bob Crow tried to make this strike about pay, then it was about conditions, then it was about safety, then it was about showing solidarity to workers facing disciplinary action. The truth is that the strike was always about him and his desire to flex his muscle. Clearly other transport unions and even other members of the RMT didn't want to play his game. His call for "all out" action has failed w...

So I get home from supporting a strike (pictured) to read that New Labour even in its death throes is holding out against workers' right to strike.Existing law makes us jump through hoop after hoop to even hold a legal strike, while employers have every right they need to undermine workers' action. London Underground, for example, will keep the three striking stations open tomorrow with managers a...

Havel's new absurdist tragicomedy, "Leaving" - his first play since 1988 - depicts a womanizing former political leader who grudgingly confronts the political wilderness. The play will have its foreign premiere in London in September.

Boston Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez apparently has great faith in the success of the surge. Look at this press conference brilliance: I don't care where I play. I can even play in Iraq if need be. My job is to play baseball." If this latest from Ramirez comes as even a remote surprise to you, you're probably not a baseball fan.

Hundreds of council workers embroiled in a dispute with their employers over a proposed new pay system and conditions are going on strike. The three-day action by 1,500 employees at Argyll and Bute Council is expected to bring disruption to transport systems and public services. Unions representing the workers said talks with the local authority had broken down.

Government guidelines for the management of school play times encourage schools to facilitate aerobic activities engaging students in mutually participative but limited contact game orientated play. WHICH MEANS? Send them outside to play tag! This is a joke by the way. Sorry that I have to say this but too many people were taking it seriously!

If this story about a boy being diagnosed with Play Station addiction is true, it reveals a lot about my own youth but also leaves me wondering whether we should purchase this beauty for Christmas. What do you think? Is a three and half year old too young to play with this stuff?

Labour paid back the Union paymasters with a provision in the law that makes in illegal for an employer to sack workers during the first 12 weeks of a strike. So we have the absurd case of BA who could replace the staff on strike in the bat of an eyelid unable to do so because Labour got bribed by money from the Unions ( which Labour bunged them anyway from the Tax payer via the Union modernisatio...

Interesting to read that Simon Stephens, the playwright responsible for the first play about the bomb attacks on a bus and Underground trains, claims that what they did was "as British as Tizer", adding: "This was an action made in Britain. They were English boys." His play suggests they were not evil, not monsters. His play Pornography, which has already won critical acclaim at the festival, whic...
