Here is a sobering thought for those of us who save our pennies in order to give our kids a good Christmas, even more sobering for those who buy Christmas on credit cards: As of last Thursday we are nearer next Christmas than we are to last Christmas. TheEuropean Commission has confirmed that on 21 October 2008 Commission officials carried out unannounced inspections at the premises of several smart card chips producers in several Member States.
