The Sunday Times today carries the first poll for the forthcoming Glasgow North East by-election. It is carried out by Scottish Opinion and shows vote shares of CON 6%, LAB 51%, LDEM 3%, SNP 33%. NO decision on the timing of the Glasgow North East by-election will be taken until after Michael Martin steps down as Commons Speaker and MP on June 21. It makes a summer poll highly unlikely. Scottish Labour - who were keen to avoid a July campaign - are now very confident it will take place in September or October. And who knows if it will be a separate by-election?
