Some questions for David Cameron today
It has been widely trailed that David Cameron is going to outline his new European policy today, after capitulating yesterday on the Treaty of Lisbon issue. The feral members of the Tory Party are baying for blood, so what is Cameron going to give them? The most likely position that Cameron is going to propose to negotiate

The House of Commons was strangely subdued today, as well it might be, I suppose. Neither David Cameron nor Gordon Brown seemed to have much fire in their bellies. David Cameron tried to stoke the fire at one stage, but didn't really pull it off. All his questions were taken up with MPs' expenses. Consensus in the first two questions turned quickly into disagreement. David Cameron brough...

The questions following David Cameron’s statement to the House of Commons have just finished. As Cameron answered 136 questions, it became increasingly clear that the immediate moment of political danger appears to have passed for the Prime Minister. By the end of the session, Cameron was even joking about inviting Mrs Bone to Chequers for the weekend. In his opening statement, Cameron place...

Leaving aside David Cameron's car-crash comments to the Sun this morning, the Tory leader's press conference raises some serious questions about the future of some members of the shadow cabinet. Asked about the growing rumours the plans a reshuffle, Mr Cameron reeled off a list of names, people who can presumably bank on keeping their jobs for the foreseeable. They include Chris Gra...

David Cameron's visit to Lewisham showed a start contrast between him and Gordon Brown. No stage management, no hand-picked audience. Instead he faced a few questions from some feisty students and journalists. Cameron was open and honest about the hard choices that the government faces, not backing away from tackling any of the questions thrown at him. We need more of this, instead of pet int...

Back in 2005 I was at an Edinburgh event attended by David Cameron. The soon-to-be Tory leader entered the room and worked the crowd. He shook my hand and said: "Hello, I'm David Cameron." "Hello, I'm David Farrer," I replied. The chap to my left looked at me. Cameron turned to my neighbour and once again said: "Hello, I'm David Cameron." And my neighbour replied: "Hello, I'm David Purdie." I

Listening to David Cameron being interviewed on the Today Programme this morning, I was struck by how nearly all the questions came from the right. Cameron was pushed to say that more things would have to be cut, that he would scrap the 50p tax rate and that he would take the opportunity this crisis presents to be radical. These questions are a result of the positions that Cameron has taken but it...
