contribution by Climate Sock Another week, another shonky poll? On Friday the BBC reported their new survey, which they claimed showed a clear drop in the number of people who believe in climate change or that it’s man-made. After the BBC’s inaccurate coverage of a climate poll last year, I was ready for this to be another bit of mis-reporting ripe for a take-down.

BBC environment correspondent Richard Black keeps up the column acreage on the evils of man made climate change in front page story on the BBC News website today. It even includes a photograph and caption that is a reminder to devout Catholics to believe in this new religion too: An opinion poll in 11 countries has produced what organisers term a "global mandate" for action on climate change.

Richard North analyses the results, but you have to ask questions about this survey on attitudes to climate change in southern and eastern England. The BBC tell us that "a questionnaire survey was filled in by 551 people, from a range of ages and backgrounds, between September and November last year" - but evidently it has only been released now, the best part of a year later. Why? Is this good sc...

A Populus poll conducted for BBC News has shown a marked increase in the number of people who don’t believe in the global warming climate change CO2 pollution religion. Just 3 months ago 41% of people believed in man-made climate change, now only 26% believe. 38% believe that climate change is not proven to be man-made when 3 months ago

To dismiss the implications of climate change based on an error about the rate at which Himalayan glaciers are melting is an act of astonishing intellectual legerdemain. Yet this is what some doubters of climate change are claiming. But the reality is that our understanding of climate change is based on

Much glee - even astonishment - in the blogosphere that the BBC has finally produced a balanced piece about climate change. There have been a few corners in the beeb where the coverage has been unbiased, but the thrust has been that climate change is manmade. In their main bulletins and programmes this is what you get. It's too soon to know whether this is the start of balanced reporting, or ...

A few faked email stats and suddenly the entire edifice of climate change is in the balance. There's no doubt that the revelation of less than pure scientific method being used by the prominent climate change boffins at the University of East Anglia has given a new lease of life to the climate change deniers, or climo-sceptics. But, as we get ready to see our leaders parading their concern at the ...

The Guardian has one of its climate change scare scoops for us all to panic about today. Their good friend and climate change guru, Professor Robert Watson has held court and it is clear from what he says that we are all doomed. The UK should take active steps to prepare for dangerous climate change of perhaps 4C according to one of the government's chief scientific advisers. In policy areas

BusinessGreen recently claimed that on both sides of the Atlantic 'belief' in climate change has been less dented by the Climategate scandal as first thought. The choice of words is telling in and of itself. Apparently climate change is now purely a matter of faith. You can read all about it in businessGreen. In the meantime, we're doing an unscientific survey of our own to see if w...
