So I write at The Register on how manufacturing hasn’t declined. In the comments there is this: “I worked here and….” “I have a mate who…” yeah right – your insights are so much more knowledgeable than the blokes who put the original figures together. Post 701196 – we may not make the

This blog is my personal ramblings and my comments on news and events. Anyone is welcome to read this blog but I write it for me, not for anyone else. Following some quite unnecessary and personal comments I have modified my blog settings to require my approval before a comment made by a reader is posted for all to see. I will accept comments that add to debate or make valid points about the event...

I’ve disabled comment editing for the moment as it seems to be playing up. You will still be able to write comments, you just won’t be able to change them if you make a mistake!!! Also, thanks for all the comments on the forum. For the moment we’ll park the idea and see what else we

Asked if there was surprise or disapproval with Harriet Harman s comments on the US Election, the PMS said that he didn t have anything that he could say on the matter. Harriet Harman had been making the Government s position clear, which was not to comment on the US election. The PMS reminded people that the Prime Minister would not comment on the US Presidential Election. original source.

Anonymous comments can still be submitted although you will be forced to choose yourself a name, no more posting as "Anonymous". It's very much a testing phase really and if I don't like it I will revert back to Blogger comments, but seeing as ...

A simple and genuine question: why is the Guardian's Comment is Free shit? I'm especially thinking of the comments themselves here; I've seen more meaningful discussion on YouTube comments. Though half the articles seem to be aimed at winding up...

In my last post I made the comment that I can trace my family back to Gomer. I have had four e-mails, from people who didn't wish to make comments in the comments section of the blog, asking me to explain the significance of this comment. To encourage comments in their proper place I will not answer those e-mails but will explain the significance of Gomer here! If a pub quiz question was asked Acc...

I have a piece on the Guardian's Comment is Free site today. It is a reply of sorts to an article there a couple of days ago by James Graham. I write: One of the most important jobs on election day is getting the numbers from the tellers at the polling stations back to the committee room. And, having worked in many local byelections, I have come to the conclusion that the best people to do it...
