The government are planning to introduce lower alcohol limits for drivers claiming that this will save 65 lives a year. Rubbish! This claim that it will save lives is pushed out simply to justify the continuing attack on the liberal progressives two favourite targets - drivers and moderate drinkers. If they were really concerned about "saving lives" they'd pull our troops out of Afghanistan. ...

The one thing democratic governments can't suffer is an endless war of attrition in a faraway land. Any conflict in Afghanistan, that involved regular infantry on the ground, was always going to be one. So what now? Do we continue to support the deeply flawed and fragile Afghani project, or do we pull our troops out?
