EU finance ministers on Tuesday supported greater EU involvement in monitoring national economic policies, agreeing that more "candid" policy recommendations could be made to member states on issues such as employment, education or the fight against poverty.

Ulster Unionist Finance spokesperson David McNarry has told the DUP they need to 'get real' when it comes to Finance. Criticising a DUP motion which asked the Assembly to note the difficult economic conditions as a result of the global economic downturn, Mr McNarry said that the DUP were still in denial regarding NI's finance - something their Minister is responsible for.
