I suppose if I was a really serious political blogger I wouldn’t link to stories like this: The likely cause was eventually established – he had apparently been drinking with friends, and had passed out. His friends had decided it...

And here it is, the first - I’m guessing - of many which consist entirely of a link to something by me on Samizdata, as prophesied here. Back in 2000 the chancellor Gordon Brown rejected calls to restore the link between earnings and the basic state pension, saying too much money would then go to pensioners who are well-off. This link was cut by the Tory government and used the same reason for doing so. Labour are happy for pensioners to be means tested. Plaid Cymru are still calling for the link to be restored, so there is no need...

I don't link to many councillor blog sites because often they are the sort that tell you what last night's planning meeting was like and the problems of flytipping on local street corners. Nothing wrong with that, but they tend to be more of local interest than those that contain a wider political outlook. Anyway, I like the cut of his gib, so I'm adding Councillor Tim Cheetham who ...

Now they look like very nice holidays, and just the sort of thing after a couple of months hard campaigning, but not quite the thing for the BBC to be doing. Hopefuly the link will have been chan...
