A windfall tax on Tim Worstall Info by hardtimes on July 14, 2010 at 09:00PM Charge Mr Worstall £10 every time he leaves a comment on a left-wing blog. Plus a £50 surcharge if said comment refers to “Polly” or “Ritchie”. How the idea could be implemented Sit back and let the money flow. Heck. Even I might support it. Be an incentive

Look at the facts objectively to understand the reality of the situation. Consider whether a policy response is appropriate. Critically appraise proposed government legislation. Turn that into an engaging and provocative article. That's what Tim Worstall did re gender pay equality. If you've ever questioned whether you're naturally right-wing or left-wing, I'd suggest which camp you come down on i...

It's sometimes hard to keep up. In this post Tim Worstall is at his cryptic best, but as a seasoned Worstallite, I can decipher. When he says 'My word, you mean prices and incentives matter', he is implying that those on the left don't believe this. As I note in the comments it is loopy, or idiotarian as Tim would say, to suggest that the left doesn't think higher gasoline...

Over at the ASI blog, Tim Worstall writes on tax cuts for Conservatives (and Lib Dems) who believe there is such a thing as society: The biggest problem we have in our tax system is at the lower end of it, where too many of the working poor are sucked into the tax system while they're earning almost trivial sums of money. The interaction of this and the benefits system means that millions fac...

Tim Congdon has written for the Sunday Times today, here. His piece is mainly about the nature of the Bank of England's monetary policy errors during 2005-7 and the significance of the broad money supply as an indicator of inflationary...

Tim Worstall asks a good question about why the UK taxpayer is giving aid to countries. First off - as can be seen in the associated comment thread - it seems madness to give money to a rapidly growing economy such as India when that nation has a space programme and a nuclear weapons programme. True, that country still has immense numbers of very poor people, but surely the best way to address tha...

There’s a spat going on between Tim Worstall (interested observer of economics and serial entrepreneur) and Richard Murphy (Director of Tax Research LLP) about economics and sundry other topics. Murphy recently trotted out the abuse that Worstall is privileged, a term abuse beloved of the vulgar left which destroys all arguments in their mind. Lets take a

I think this has the potential for serialisation, so consider this the 2nd in a new series 'Macro-economics with Tim Worstall'. The title will be my attempt to decipher what he is saying. No.1, here: Left-wingers believe that raising the price of petrol has no impact on its consumption. No.2 If a company alters the price of its goods in a country with a fixed exchange rate that system ha...

Tim Worstall is going to eat your babies, and your kittens. Or at least that's pretty much what the disgusting, socialist moron, Richard Murphy, seems to think. Tim is a clever chap, I will not dispute it. There is, however, something very unpleasant about his methods. He tries to engage as a reasonable person on this blog, and then goes back to his own blog, hurls abuse and waits for his sycophan...
