The US president faces the possibility that his chief nuclear legacy will be an $80bn weapons modernisation the likes of which his predecessor George W. Bush could only dream

It is now evident that President George W Bush has no shots left in his locker. His live address to the American people a few moments ago exposed just how threadbare his authority has become. George W Bush has run out of ideas It was his own Republican Congressmen who torpedoed the Paulson $700 billion bail-out last night. Yet all the President could do was beseech his dissident troops to think ag...

(Fictional) George W Bush 1946-2006: Redux Following Channel 4's "Death of a President" - the fictional account of the assassination of President George W. Bush - winning Best TV Movie/Miniseries at the International Emmys, we at As A Dodo towers decided this was a marvellous excuse to reprint an old favourite from the archives: our obituary for Fictional George Bush, which first appeared here in September 2006. If George W Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes? If George W Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved? If George W B...

It's not surprising that the photo library of John McCain with George Bush is getting vigorous usage by the Obama campaign (see latest ad below). George Bush now has a favourability rating of just 19%. That's the lowest ever for a US President since George Gallup started doing such polls in the 1930s. Bush was at that level before, but it was when the Iraq situation was far worse than it is now.

The withdrawal could cost Russia billions of dollars, but will also unravel a program critical to President George W. Bush's hopes of safely spreading civilian nuclear energy.

I read that there are mounting fears that the United States will do nothing to prevent Iran becoming a nuclear power and these will be outlined by Ehud Olmert, Israel’s prime minister, when he meets President George W Bush in Washington tomorrow. Israel is concerned that Bush will pass the Iranian hot potato to Barack Obama, the president-elect, while the last chance of destroying Tehran&rsq...

As we approach the end days of the Bush Presidency, it seems tired, listless and inept. For instance it is reported that Israel gave serious thought this spring to launching a military strike on Iran's nuclear sites but was told by President George W Bush that he would not support it and did not expect to revise that view for the rest of his presidency. Pathetic stuff from Bush. Sooner, rathe...

Republican House Policy Committee Chairman Thaddeus McCotter rips "Beijing George" Bush in a memo being passed around Capitol Hill: Today, in his final term, the wildly unpopular President George W. Bush boarded Air Force One bound for the Beijing Olympics and a meeting with his chum Hu Jintao, the dapper ruler of a nuclear armed, communist dictatorship. ... Perhaps our Compassionate Con...

If President George W Bush has appeared a little distracted during the last few days of high drama in Washington, it's because he is. While everyone has been focusing on his administration's $700 billion junk debt bail-out, Bush's mind is elsewhere - in the remote mountains and valleys of Waziristan, to be precise. George W Bush has Osama bin Laden on his mind For it seems the order...
