Judging from my email inbox there is more hubbub about the LibDems using the whole Norwich South result to prove "it's a two horse race" between them and Labour and no point in voting Conservative or Green - sadly, though, they used this argument in places like Eaton (where the Tories and LibDems are around 200 votes apart with Labour fourth) and Town Close (where the Greens have a 20% lead o...

Please do click and see this classic - here - from the LibDems in the Glenrothes by-election. The party has been going down the plughole recently and coming 4th in Glasgow East, behind the Tories, has really stung the party. Although they are not likely to do so badly this time they have a very uninspiring choice of candidate. So back to the bar chart - "In Fife it's a two horse race for West...

I somewhat predicted this only a month ago, and today a Guardian editorial endorses the Libdems in the coming elections. Given that the Greens are not yet effective opposition to the Tories, I think this is an inevitable and wise move. Endorsing a Labour party headed by Gordon Brown now is like trying to convince

So the Ming Campbell amendment failed by only four votes. Had the LibDems actually told the Tories and the other parties about it earlier and their whips had got their act together, things could have turned out very differently. Despite that, the Government should be embarrassed by it. Sadly, this government is almost beyond embarrassment. The Conservatives have now joined the LibDems in pulling o...

A poll to be published tomorrow suggests the battle for third place nationally will be between the Green Party, the LibDems and UKIP. A reader directs me to the latest example of the weak LibDems in City failing to stand up to Labour. This story, still on ther website, claims in bold letters that the "LibDems vote to reject allowances proposals." Only when it came to the vote, they did no such thing. They voted - along with Labour and the Greens - to defer the motion until July, when they hope the expenses storm will have died o...

It seems odd to talk about the Tory party on the day after such a spectacular result from the SNP but that's what I'm going to do.With only 365 votes between the two main challengers, this was very much a two horse race. And as we saw in May 2007, two horse races generally involve the rest of the parties being squeezed out. The Greens and the Socialists certainly don't need reminded of that.Well, ...

Conservative 33% Labour 31% LibDems 24% Green 13% According to latest poll of polls here No matter how many of these we get, the pattern of the seat being a tight Lab/Con marginal remains. A two horse race, anyone?
