A Larkin Toad
I had another trip to Kingston (Hull) last week, a place I like more each time I see more of it. Echoing the London elephants, Kingston is currently full of toads. I found this one outside the Hull Truck Theatre.

Oooohkay. Looks like it’s nearly official. I’m to be working in London from Oct onwards for 10 months or so. Thus I need to find some place to rest my weary etc. Yes, I can have a look around the flat share boards etc, and will do. I’ve got a sorta offer of a place out in Dartford

London is a DISGRACE London gang areas Londonistan OH has been in London for the past few days. I very very rarely go there because I detest public transport (it gives you nits and bedbugs) but I had to travel around to get some shit done with a German business partner. Anyway, my point. The place is a fucking shithole. I was born in London and lived most of my young life in South London. You wouldn't recognise i...

Handel in London – and an angelic tenor aria Lebrecht writes about the place in the history of classical music of London: in the premier league of music capitals, London struggles for recognition beside Vienna, Paris and Milan. It is regarded as a bit of a parvenu, a place of skimpy traditions, capital of what Germans used to call the Land Without Music. None of the three Bs - Bach Beethoven, Brahms - ever set foot on British soil and no sym...

It's getting close to the time I have to decide. Where should I place my little "X" on Thursday? The only elections in London are for the Euro-Parliament, so the outcome is irrelevant to anything. I'm not concerned about the results, it will make not a jot of difference to my life or that of anyone else in London if the eight available seats all go to the Conservatives, Labour or even th...

It's not an investment. It's a place to hang your hat. It's a place to keep your books. It's a place to keep your clothes. It's a place to eat. It's a place to sleep. It's a place to make love. It's a place to have fun. It's a place to be happy. It's a place to be sad. It is not an investment. Or as Charlie Brooker puts it:For years, money was just...
