For God’s sake, doesn’t any journalist have a sense of humour? First a public rebuke on the BBC for being “pompous” now journalism.co.uk doesn’t see the funny side. Any minute now, I’m expecting the National Union of Journalists to issue a press release calling for the government to take action against bloggers issuing

One of the best journalists the BBC has had , one who exemplified the BBC at it's best, and one who had a long and profitable career with the Corporation. Working with them until just about the end of his life. I for one will miss his input towards BBC News journalism.

This means we get a half baked version of the news, and this is true beyond the po...

Yes. That's the simple answer but it's taken us two days to come up with that. Well, not strictly true, it's taken us two days to set out the changing landscape of journalism and the implications of that for journalists, journalism and our unions. I've been taking part in an International...

Bluffers’ guide to journalism? Budding journalists and people writing for journalists (that’s you, PR people) could do worse than read the Guardian’s writing guide to journalism out today. The introduction by columnist and former Times editor, Simon Jenkins, is a must-read for anyone tasked with communicating news via the written word. He recalls a “ferocious sub editor” at The Times who would

So we now have the UK winners of this years most pointless, and may I say invidious prize. The European parliament's own journalism prize (UK chapter) have selected for this coveted award someone in each of the four categories - TV, Radio, Internet and print. They will now do battle with the same number from all 26 countries. What is fascinating to note is that two of the four British entry's are f...
