I’m struggling to work out what on Earth the Nick Clegg line on tax cuts actually is. Since the launch of the Make it Happen, I’ve assumed that this is down to poor communication on his part. As I summed it up on Lib Dem Voice last week: My big concern is that we

Ever since Make it Happen was passed by the Liberal Democrat Conference last month, Nick Clegg has been calling for tax cuts. But that document was drawn up in a very different economic climate, and we have to ask today whether calling for tax cuts is wise or credible. Nick Clegg, the Liberal Democrat leader, will tonight reaffirm his demand for tax cuts worth £18bn for low and middle income earners. With Labour and the Conservatives proposing rival tax-cutting strategies in the hope of reviving the economy, Clegg will criticise both parties for the "small-mindedness" of their plans. And he will claim that Lib Dem policies could "fundamentally rebalance Br...
