Extraordinary news reaches me from Ladbrokes: the bookies have just installed Harriet Harman as favourite to take over from Gordon Brown as the next Labour leader, whenever it is that he jumps/is pushed. Is Harriet Harman headed for Number 10? The Labour deputy leader's odds have been cut from 5/1 to 3/1 after David Miliband&nbsp...

As Iain Dale points out, Harriet Harman has overtaken David Miliband as the bookies' favourite to succeed Gordon Brown.  Here's the full list from Ladbrokes: Harriet Harman --- 3/1 David Miliband --- 7/1 Jack Straw --- 5/1 Jon Cruddas --- 8/1 Alan Johnson --- 8/1 James Purnell --- 12/1 John Denham --- 12/1 Alan Milburn --- 16/1 Ed Balls --- 16/1 John Reid --- 16/1 Andy Burnham --- 2...

The political story of the week could be from another little nugget carried in the Mail on Sunday, here. The MoS say that Brown has threatened to sack Harriet Harman over claims that she is plotting to succeed him as Labour Leader. The Spectator has also picked up on their report, here. This could be the leadership battle that David Miliband did not have the stomach for, as Harman seemingly has the

Harriet Harman - Fail While Harriet was talking on her mobile phone, she crashed into another car and drove off after shouting - "I’m Harriet Harman, you know where you can get hold of me." Clearly not at the scene of an accident you're responsible for Ms Harman.

HARRIET Harman is the new favourite with the bookmakers to replace Gordon Brown as the next leader of the Labour Party, according to Ladbrokes this morning. She has replaced Foreign Secretary David Miliband at the head of Ladbrokes' betting. Harman, who re-built her career after being sacked from Tony Blair's first cabinet, is now 3/1 from 5/1 with Miliband out to 7/2 from 2/1. 3/1 Harri...

At least the political fates have a sense of humour. No sooner had David Miliband's frustration screamed into view last night, than the Tories were hit by a story that was similar in several regards: the leaked Liam Fox letter, expressing his anger over spending cuts. Here are a handful of those similarities: 1) Leakage. David Miliband's words for Harriet Harman were meant to be for thei...

Just been taking part in a Sky News webchat on Miliband and the future of Labour. It's surprising the amount of centre-right support Harriet Harman has. Is this a double bluff on their part?? Iain Dale and Phil Donohue are both supporters and are both firm Tories.Briefly irritated by 'Anna', who said that Harriet made her cringe - fair enough - but that David Miliband made her swoon. Hmm. I don't ...

Miliband and Harman to challenge Brown? Didn’t Alistair Campbell once say that if you’re in the news for 12 days straight [on one story] you’ll have to resign? Brown’s must be eyeing the calendar with some concern. Another day, another string of rumours about plots, letters and potential leaders in waiting: David Miliband and Harriet Harman are preparing the ground for a
