Facebook is not a public utility, but a big business focused on making money for its shareholders. I recently shut down my Facebook account; as far as I can see it is impossible to delete it as the site does not provide the wherewithal to allow me to do so. The problems I have with Facebook are two fold and they both revolve around privacy.
